Director of Operations

The purpose of this role is to ensure the completion of all projects in accordance with design, specifications, budget, and schedule while also building and maintaining customer relations to increase business for Teichert Pipelines. Specifically, the Director of Operations is responsible for safe, profitable execution of procured work; capturing additional profitable revenue opportunities encountered during execution while maintaining outstanding customer satisfaction; driving the development and growth of tools and processes needed to produce those outcomes; and working closely with other divisions of Teichert to procure and account for all needed personnel and equipment resources.

Technical / Specialty Area
- Plans, coordinates and/or supervises activities of Superintendents, Project Managers and Project Engineers on assigned pipelines projects and programs; assumes responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project; oversees regular meetings of Project Management and Superintendent resources.
- Works towards a zero injury culture through visible support of Teichert’s Injury Prevention and Safety program, the implementation/interpretation of safety programs, and active participation in safety meetings and training sessions.   Proactively identifies, and communicates, safety improvements and hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and meet corporate safety standards.  
- Investigate and resolve safety or other high-risk situations; implement corrective measures.
- Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required, i.e., technical assistance in the interpretation of drawings, recommending pipelines methods and equipment, authorizing/approve project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design, change requests, etc.
- Interfaces with clients, union officials, contractors, etc. to ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to as well as protect the company’s interests and simultaneously maintain good relationships; builds and maintains positive working relationships with external customers.  
- Ensures projects are completed in accordance with design, specifications, budget and schedule through effective monitoring /control of pipelines activities. Ensures all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc.
- Acts as a liaison between internal staff and external customers by conveying information, understanding mechanics of the jobs, and working through possible challenges or pitfalls. May assist in negotiating work.
- Provides timely and accurate post job information to determine customers’ current and future needs, job satisfaction, and other critical data for the business unit to utilize as a performance measure.
- Participates in industry related associations and trade groups that would benefit the work practices, knowledge, or business network of Teichert Pipelines.

- Plans, directs, and oversees division functions, resources, and allocation of funds to ensure a linkage of day-to-day activities to Teichert Pipelines priorities.
- Facilitates collaboration across business units and builds consistency in construction practices and procedures, corporate development, resources and materials, company performance, and safe production practices.
- Prepares field workforce for evolving business needs. Oversees field staffing and corresponding costs, ensuring the balance of short and long-term needs for people (skills/manpower). Maximizes performance, accountability, and motivation of field workforce while maintaining morale. Models innovative/effective management practices.
- Promotes and protects Teichert values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others.   Maintains a “team” spirit within the business unit.   Works and cooperates with other disciplines (across company lines) to ensure maximum and best use of Teichert resources.  
- Establishes, promotes, and protects the community perception of Teichert. Participates in, and contributes to improving the local community. 

Role Qualifications & Requirements Education:
- Equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

Experience & Industry Expertise:
- Minimum of ten to fifteen years’ experience in the pipelines or heavy civil   construction industry
- Minimum ten years’ experience managing others
- Must have strong experience in bidding and building pipeline or heavy civil construction industry projects (estimating experience is preferred)

Specific Job Requirements:
- Successful completion of DOT pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
- Valid Driver’s License
- Current on all company required safety training
- Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
- Must have a thorough knowledge of industry contracts/law
- Experience managing craft personnel, handling personnel issues and EEO
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, technology, equipment methods, cost control, schedules, etc. and their impact on project activities
- Thorough knowledge of company’s Standard Operating Policies and Procedures
